Maranatha Christian School

Talibon, Bohol, Philippines.

The McKays helped start this school in 1990 at the request of the local Evangelical Christian Church, to provide a Christian education for the children of the many newly converted families. The McKays built facilities, trained teachers and provided curriculum materials from Australia.

Many of the poor farmers and fishermen find it difficult to pay for their children’s education. So a sponsorship scheme was started to put children through school, and to support the teachers. GPC channels funds from Australian sponsors to the school, which has about 160 students.

The school has achieved such good results academically that now many non-believers want to send their children to the school. This provides great opportunities for evangelism.
