Gymea Peoples Church is an approved provider of Special Religious Education (SRE) in NSW public schools. GPC currently provides SRE teachers for two local primary schools.

Our SRE teachers all have current Working With Children Check Clearance. Their initial training in classroom management and child protection is provided by Youthworks. Our teachers attend annual Youthworks SRE conferences for ongoing training and skill development. In addition, GPC requires all our volunteer children’s workers, including SRE teachers, to attend church-based training in child protection regularly.

The SRE curriculum used by our teachers is Connect, an age-appropriate, Biblically-based curriculum produced by Youthworks. Content may be viewed at: http://www.whysre.com.au/taught/cep.curriculum_overview
